The Pigmy possum is critically endangered in Australia and scientists are trying to rebuild the population of the possum in the snow mountains. They are a small marsupial that can grow up to 5-12cm in length. The weight of the possum is also small their weight is 10-50g. They are a nocturnal animal and will have a diet of insects, invertebrates, fruit seeds and nectar from the plants in the alpine region. They are excellent climbers because of the tail that they have. Their tail allows them to wrap around a part of the tree.
