Acacia
Acacia pycnantha or the Golden Wattle is Australia’s national plant. It flowers in late winter and spring. The flowers and Golden and look like fluff. They can grow between 2 and 8 meters tall and have a smooth texture with a grey bark. The mature plant does not have proper leaves but a long spine and are a dark greens colour and appear shiny. The leaves grow to about 10 cm to 20 cm long. The wattle is mostly found in the southeast part of Australia into Western Victoria and northwards into inland New South Wales and ACT.
Banksia
The Banksia is another plant that is native to Australia. The Banksia is a wildflower and is one of 170 species of plants that have the same genius. It can range from a shrub to a 3 meter tall tree. The Banksia is also one of the main nectar producers in the Australian bush. The Banksia has long leaves and the flower have a centre that has little stalk coming out to make the flower. The Banksia has a range species that can grow across Australia and the tropical Banksia is found across the top end of Australia.
Eucalyptus
The Eucalyptus is part of a wide genus. It can be tree to small scrubs. It is one of the most iconic flora in Australia. It is mostly native to Australia but also grows in New Guinea and Indonesia. The best known specie of the Eucalyptus is the Gum Tree. The leaves are generally long, smooth and are a dark green colour.
